Abdul Rauf Azhar, the Mastermind of IC-814 Hijacking, Killed in Operation Sindoor
Abdul Rauf Azhar, the mastermind of the IC-814 hijacking, was killed in Operation Sindoor, according to the BJP. Abdul Rauf Azhar, a terrorist who is currently on the most wanted list, was implicated in the hijacking of Indian Airlines IC 814 in Kandahar in 1999. A social media post featuring Abdul Rauf Azhar’s photograph and the word “eliminated” was published by the BJP.
According to the BJP, Abdul Rauf Azhar, the younger sibling of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar, was among the terrorists who were killed when India engaged in Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, yesterday. In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the brutal murder of 26 innocent individuals, India conducted precision bombardment at nine locations in Pakistan and PoK yesterday. One of these locations was the Jaish headquarters in Bahawalpur.

The Kandahar Hijacking and Abdul Rauf Azhar’s Terror Network
Abdul Rauf Azhar, a terrorist who is highly sought after, was the mastermind behind the hijack of Indian Airlines IC 814 in Kandahar in 1999. He was also implicated in the 2001 assault on the Indian Parliament and the Pathankot terror attack.
In the IC 814 hijack, an Indian Airlines aircraft that was en route from Kathmandu to Delhi with 190 passengers and crew was diverted to Kandahar. The Indian government was compelled to release three terrorists in exchange for the passengers’ release, one of whom was Masood Azhar. This incident is remembered as one of India’s most harrowing aviation terror crises.
Masood Azhar’s Reaction and Aftermath of Operation Sindoor
Yesterday, a statement attributed to Masood Azhar stated that India targeted the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed, Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah, in Bahawalpur, resulting in the deaths of 10 members of his family and four of his subordinates.
“This evening, ten members of my family were blessed with this joy together. Five of them are innocent children, which includes my elder sister and her honorable husband,” the statement read.
It further mentioned, “My sibling Huzaifah and his mother, my beloved scholar Fazilah (niece), and my scholar Fazil bhanje (nephew). The deceased have become guests of Allah, and two additional dear companions have been slain.”
According to the statement, Masood Azhar experiences “neither regret nor despair” regarding the fatalities. “Instead, I am reminded repeatedly that I would have been happy to join this fourteen-member caravan.” It stated that the Lord did not slay them, despite the fact that the time for their departure had arrived.
